Blatter himself looking at South Africa's preparations to host the 2010 World Cup

The International Federation of Football (FIFA) on Thursday that President Sepp Blatter himself is searching for South Africa's preparations to host the 2010 World Cup finals later this month.

He said that FIFA, Blatter stayed four days in South Africa in the period between the fourteenth and the seventeenth of this month "in order to obtain the first impression of the developments that have occurred in the context of the preparations to host the Cup continents next year and the World Cup finals in 2010."

According to the agenda announced by FIFA, Blatter will visit several cities including Cape Town to inspect the Green Point Stadium and the new Johannesburg Stadium to watch the Ellis Park and some other stadiums.

Blatter also held talks with President Thabo Mbeki of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, the leader of the ruling African National Congress and some other officials.

There were concerns about South Africa's preparations to host this great event especially with regard to the completion of stadium construction, infrastructure and security.

He said FIFA and local organizers of last month that the construction of the stadium is in accordance with the timetables set.

Blatter had said during the European Nations Cup finals in June last Austrian television that FIFA has alternative plans if South Africa failed in hosting the championship in 2010.

Despite this, Blatter said that after a period of a natural disaster is the only thing that might prevent South Africa from the organization of the World Cup finals.
